Tove Lo Kicks Off Her “ESTRUS” Tour With Style in Nashville, Tennessee

The solo project of Swedish-born artist Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson, Tove Lo has become a worldwide sensation with her left-of-center grunge-inspired pop sound and open candor on taboo subjects. Now returning with her first headline tour in over three years, Tove Lo is looking to celebrate the release of her forthcoming album, ESTRUS, due out on September 18th, 2026. Kicking the run of shows off in Nashville, it’s her first show in town since February of 2023 and her fans couldn’t be more excited. While her fanbase might not be as large as some contemporaries, they are fiercely loyal and were lined up well in advance to secure their spots of the barricade.
Kicking off the night with a yet to be released cut from ESTRUS, Tove Lo immediately gets the party going with “I’m the cake.” While the audience may be unfamiliar with the track (this is the live debut for much of the new album), it was still an instant hook with its distinctive synthesized bass. It is crunchy, adding a flair of grit to an otherwise pop-centric track, all adding to Tove Lo’s ‘dark-pop’ aesthetic.
Tove Lo quickly followed this up with “Cool Girl,” the lead single from her sophomore album Lady Wood and one of her biggest hits to date. “Cool Girl” is a massive punch to throw in the opening number, a hit that even those unfamiliar with Tove Lo are sure to recognize. Nilsson takes full advantage of this fact, commanding the stage during the song’s slow build into the chorus before cementing her spotlight during its pop. Tove Lo is such a natural performer even from atop her massive video panel stage.

Finally breaking from her tower, Tove Lo makes her way downstage for “My Gun,” a high-energy electropop track from her 2014 debut. Nilsson manages to keep the sultry vibes high even through the bounce of “My Gun,” maintaining her iconic brand without diluting any of the upbeat energy of the track. It is an odd trichotomy, blending sexual attraction, pop synthesizers, and a danceable beat into a unique blend that only Tove Lo could achieve.

Nashville marked the first date of an extensive world tour, a run of shows that’ll see Tove Lo hit major markets across North America, Europe, and Australia with stops at iconic venues such as LA’s Greek Theatre and London’s O2 Academy. Tove Lo will close out her 2026 in her home country of Sweden with a show at AVICII Arena ahead of her Australian dates in 2027.

Tove Lo is effortlessly entertaining, with her new album ESTRUS set to add to an already renowned discography. Having now heard the majority of it live ahead of its release, I’m more than certain it will satiate the fans who have been clamoring for new music. As far as her live performance goes, you can tell a lot of thought has been put into the show, with large thematic elements and perfectly paced setlist crafted together. For pop music listeners itching for a darker tinge, Tove Lo is the show for you.
