Yo Gabba Gabba! Are Back and Better Than Ever
Yo Gabba Gabba! make their climatic return to Nashville with a stop at The Pinnacle for an evening of song, dance, and giggles.
Freshly revived for a new series, Yo Gabba Gabbaland!, Muno, the red clyclops, Foofa, the pink flower-bubble-hybrid, Plex, the yellow magical robot, Brobee, the green fluffy monster, and Toodee, the blue cat-dragon, have reunited to bring the show on the road. The groups first tour in over a decade, “Yo Gabba Gabba! LIVE!” delights for all ages. The show’s initial run from 2007-2015 caught the hearts of a generation, many of whom have happily aged up with the show and brought their own youngins along with them. With the floor wide open and plenty of room, there were swaths of families of all shapes and sizes dancing together with the quintet on stage. Whether it be “I Like to Dance” or “Get the Sillies Out,” there was never much time for a dull moment with the gang.
This troupe of colorful monsters have made quite a splash with their return, not only headlining large theatres across the country, but also landing a viral moment at this year’s Coachella. Joined by collaborators Thundercat, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and Flavor Flav, the band managed to immediately launch themselves back into the spotlight and flood social media. This followed their December 2024 Tiny Desk performance with NPR where they unveiled many of their new songs. While their fresh album is certainly geared towards the younger audience, it features collaborations with artists across the musical spectrum including Anderson .Paak, Ty Segall, Portugal. The Man, Dayglow, The Linda Lindas, Local Natives, Betty Who, Thundercat, Lucius, Kurt Vile, mxmtoon, The Interupters, and more, leaving a little bit of room for just about everyone. A wonderful collection of artists that would put just about any compilation album to shame, it feels like a nice homage to the show’s namesake, “Gabba Gabba Hey” by the Ramones.
Truthfully, I took on this assignment because thought it would be a fun change of pace and an entertaining look back at the characters that were a part of my childhood Saturday mornings. What I didn’t expect was to see so much care taken by not only this live show, but the entire team behind Yo Gabba Gabba!. It is really special to see such a fully developed revival of a show that meant so much to so many, and for it to take that dedication across multiple mediums from television, to music, to live performance is incredible to see.
Season 1 of Yo Gabba Gabbaland! Is streaming on Apple TV+. You can find Yo Gabba Gabba’s remaining tour dates here.
