Zeds Dead Ascend In Music City, USA

Out on the road in support of their new album, Return to the Return (of the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness), the follow up to their 2025 return, Zeds Dead are on top of the world. Icons of their craft, the Canadian electronic duo are fresh off headline festival appearances at Lighting In A Bottle, Forbidden Kingdom, and Hidden City. The duo is also more acclaimed than ever, with Return to the Return being praised as their most ambitious release to date. That in mind, it should come as no surprise that the duo sold-out their Nashville play with relative ease.
Zeds Dead have made it a point of emphasis to play Nashville over the past few years, coming back and headlining the Music City every year since their 2023 Bonnaroo performance. Each consecutive return has seen the rooms get larger and larger, jumping in size from Skydeck, to the freshly opened Pinnacle, to now selling out downtown’s Ascend Amphitheater.
While the city has historically been known for its country and roots music, there has been a steadily growing electronic scene, and Zeds Dead have been right at the center of it all. A decade ago, the idea of an electronic act selling out one of the city’s largest venues would seem preposterous, but now it is happening on a consistent basis. Zeds Dead even managed to make a little electronic-country crossover during their trip to Nashville, setting up an after-show performance at Luke Comb’s Category 10 bar in downtown.

The combined forces of Dylan “DC” Mamid and Zachary “Hooks” Rapp-Roven cannot be understated—the duo have found a way to not only play off each other’s strengths but also manage to accentuate each other without overplaying their hand. This comes in crystal clear on “In Your Head,” a scuzzy back-and-forth that bounces between deep, heavy bass, distorted synthesizers, and jangly electronica. It’s an oddly warm track in an otherwise sterile environment from Return of the Return, inviting the crowd in with a welcoming wave then locking them in with its overwhelming sound.
“Out of Time” is equally as exciting, with its dazzling keys and hazy production, this track is undeniably a dance-focused piece. DC and Hooks know that well, leaning heavily on their fans for feedback and engagement. For their part, the audience delivered. Looking out into the vast crowd, not a single body was left motionless, with the entire amphitheater on their feet, lost in the music. For many, it was a religious experience, veterans of the electronic world. For others, it seemed to be an eye-opening moment and a chance at relief.

The rest of 2026’s calendar is rather light for Zeds Dead and for good reason. After two sold-out nights at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre at the top of the month, Zeds Dead are still staring down the barrel of several festival appearances to close out their year. While their foot is still firmly on the pedal, the DJs don’t have many stops left on their ride. You can find all of the duo’s remaining and future tour dates here.

Zeds Dead are undeniably at the top of their game, putting on consistently great shows and releasing equally as good studio projects. It really doesn’t get any better than Zeds Dead, and the craftsmanship and care put into their live performances shine through any amount of haze and CO2 the duo’s production can throw at you. Sell-out after sell-out, festival after festival, one thing remains the same: this is a daggum good show.
